GEA Bonfire Night: Timetable and Useful Tips
The Traditional GEA Bonfire Night, organised as in all the past years by Sue Turner with the help of her family, Roger Houghton supervising the fire building and burning, and a group of volunteer helpers, will be taking place on
Saturday, November 7th 2009.
Invite your friends to come along.
Details & directions to the Bonfire are on our poster.
- How to get there — Share a/your car!
- The easyest way would be by car sharing.
Please go to our forum to offer or get a place in a car.- You can of course make your own way directly to Mariabrunn by S-Bahn (S2 direction Petershausen) to Röhrmoos.
- From ca. 3 pm — Building the bonfire
- Help collecting brush and wood from the woods near the fireplace site at Mariabrunn.
Roger, our experienced bonfire builder, supervises. Meet in car park / at bonfire site.
You need work clothes (sturdy boots, gloves for protection).
Bring the kids, this is hands-on tradition and fun! - After-work — a well-earned meal
- Nearby in the "Landgasthof Brummer", Inersdorferstr. 51, 85244 Röhrmoos-Großinzemoos there'll be a selective "bonfire special" menu on offer of guaranteed eaten-and-out-by-7:30 meals. So don't be late!
- Afterwards — The BIG Event
- At 8 pm (when everybody is back in the field) we light the bonfire and burn the 'Guy'.
- Sue and her team of volunteers will be waiting to sell you our Traditional Bonfire Night Fare –
Glühwein or cocoa, Hot Dogs and spicy cakes – from the GEA's own catering tent. - "All this and no entry fee? — You're kidding!"
- There is in fact no entrance fee to this event, but bring some change with you for a donation and the cost of your meal and your refreshments.
- Take care — And be sensible
- Do remember to wear thick-soled boots and warm clothing. It is cold in the field.
And do be sensible and keep your distance from the fire. So please help us see that both children and adults come home safely!
And please don't bring sparklers (Wunderkerzen)! — The cows live longer if their gras is not metallic. - IMPORTANT — The clean-up next morning
- Sunday, 8h November,
12 am, Mariabrunn: Join the Cleanup Party!
We have to clear up the place. If you are free we URGENTLY need your help:
It is only an hours outdoor work, then relax in a warm retaurant nearby.
Meet at noon at the Bonfire site. - For all enquiries and especially if you would like to help with transport, catering, bonfire building, or clearing up on Sunday morning please contact Sue Turner or 089 141 3660.
